HONOR, a smartphone brand has finally proved all the doubters wrong with their global launch event at Guangzhou, China of HONOR Robot Phone. In simple words we can say a smartphone with gimbal attached in its camera framework.

Many smartphones fans in Nepal are eagerly waiting to get their hands off on this robot phone. Today we will learn more about this robot phone specs, features, launch date, pre-orders, shipping date and price in Nepal.

Screen and Display

The HONOR Robot Phone uses a 6.31 inch LTPO OLED display with a resolution of 1216 by 2640 pixels and a sharpness of around 461 pixels per inch. It supports one billion colors, HDR, Ultra HDR, and an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120 Hz.

The LTPO panel can adjust its refresh rate from 1 Hz to 120 Hz depending on what is happening on the screen. When you are reading a static article, the refresh rate can drop to save battery. When you scroll through Facebook, play a game, or move around the interface, it can rise for a smoother experience. You do not need to press a button every time. The phone handles it automatically, which is exactly what smart technology should do.

HONOR claims up to 2000 nits in high brightness mode and as much as 6800 nits of peak brightness. That 6800 nits figure will only appear in limited conditions and should not be mistaken for normal full screen brightness. Still, the display should remain highly visible outdoors, whether you are checking Google Maps under the bright sun in Kathmandu or replying to a customer while standing outside a shop in Putalisadak.

There is also 4320 Hz PWM dimming for better eye comfort at lower brightness. For people who use their phone late at night, this could reduce visible flicker and make the screen more comfortable. It does not mean your eyes will thank you for watching Reels until 2 AM, but at least the display is trying to help.

The screen is protected by HONOR NanoCrystal Shield, also listed in some markets as Giant Rhinoceros Glass, and includes an anti reflective coating. That coating matters more than it sounds. A bright screen is useful, but reducing reflections can make text and photos easier to see without forcing the brightness to remain at maximum.

At 6.31 inches, this is relatively compact by modern flagship standards. The phone itself is not light, however. It weighs 248 grams and measures 9.6 mm thick because the body must accommodate the mechanical camera system and large battery. Your thumb may enjoy the manageable screen size, but your pocket will definitely know the phone is there.

Camera

The primary sensor is a 200 MP camera with an f 1.6 aperture, a large 1 by 1.28 inch sensor, phase detection autofocus, optical stabilization, and HONOR's retractable titanium gimbal system. Instead of remaining fixed inside the phone, the main camera can physically move and track a subject.

HONOR calls the complete mechanism a 4 DoF system. It uses a motorized three axis gimbal for stabilization and additional physical movement for the camera arm. The motor can respond quickly, while AI subject tracking helps the phone keep a person or object inside the frame.

Think about a Nepali creator recording a cooking video alone. The phone can sit on the kitchen counter and follow the presenter as they move between the chopping board and stove. A shop owner can demonstrate a product without repeatedly touching the phone. A fitness instructor can record a full routine while moving around the room. During a video call, the camera can turn to keep the speaker visible instead of showing an empty chair whenever they stand up.

This is more useful than a party trick, provided the tracking works reliably in real conditions.

The second rear camera is another 200 MP sensor, this time a periscope telephoto camera with an f 2.6 aperture, optical stabilization, and 2.7 times optical zoom. A 50 MP ultrawide camera with a 122 degree field of view completes the rear setup. The front camera is also a high resolution 50 MP unit capable of recording 4K video.

Two 200 MP cameras sound like HONOR brought a calculator to a camera fight and refused to stop adding numbers. Still, megapixels alone do not guarantee good photographs. Sensor size, lens quality, stabilization, processing, skin tones, dynamic range, and shutter speed matter just as much. The large main and telephoto sensors are therefore more important than the headline number alone.

The phone supports Laser AF, a color spectrum sensor, automated subject tracking, gyro stabilization, and video recording up to 4K at 120 frames per second. It can also record slow motion at up to 240 frames per second in Full HD.

For serious creators, the partnership with cinema camera company ARRI is the bigger story. The Robot Phone supports 10 bit ARRI LogC3 recording, ARRI Wide Gamut 3, ARRI Looks, and LUT based color grading. Log footage preserves more highlight and shadow information, giving editors greater freedom when adjusting color in software such as DaVinci Resolve.

For an everyday buyer, that means very little if every video goes directly from the camera to TikTok. For a filmmaker, wedding videographer, travel creator, or advertising team, it could be genuinely valuable. A creator filming a bright outdoor wedding and a dark reception on the same device will appreciate flexible color and dynamic range far more than another beauty filter that turns every face into polished plastic.

The clever camera also introduces an obvious concern. Moving parts are more vulnerable than fixed cameras. Dust, water, accidental force, and long term motor wear deserve attention. The phone carries an IP54 rating for dust protection and resistance against water splashes, but this is not the device I would confidently take into heavy monsoon rain or use beside a swimming pool with the gimbal open.

Software and Chipset

The HONOR Robot Phone runs Android 16 with MagicOS 10 and uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor built on a 3 nm process. Its octa core CPU includes two high performance Oryon V3 Phoenix L cores running at up to 4.6 GHz and six Oryon V3 Phoenix M cores running at up to 3.62 GHz. Graphics are handled by the Adreno 840 GPU.

In normal language, this is flagship level hardware. Social media, 4K editing, demanding games, multitasking, image processing, and AI features should not be a problem. HONOR has also added custom cooling because sustained video recording and continuous gimbal movement can create heat. A powerful processor is impressive for ten minutes. A good cooling system is what keeps it impressive after forty minutes.

The phone comes in two memory options. The first has 12 GB RAM with 512 GB storage. The second has 16 GB RAM with 1 TB storage. There is no memory card slot, but 512 GB should already be enough for most users. Creators shooting 4K at high frame rates may prefer 1 TB because professional video files can consume storage faster than a Nepali wedding consumes memory cards.

MagicOS introduces YOYO Robot Mode, which combines visual understanding, gesture recognition, voice location, contextual awareness, and physical camera movement. The camera can identify a subject, follow it, respond to gestures, and turn toward the source of a voice. HONOR also says the system can perform supported tasks across applications through YOYO Auto Execution.

This is where Nepali buyers should remain curious but cautious. AI features often depend on language, region, supported applications, and cloud services. A feature that works beautifully in Mandarin during a launch presentation may not understand fast Nepali speech mixed with English and Hindi in a noisy room. Buyers importing the Chinese version should also confirm Google Play support, notification reliability, network compatibility, warranty terms, and which YOYO features function outside China.

The Robot Phone supports 5G, Wi Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, NFC, infrared control, detailed satellite positioning, and USB Type C 3.2 with DisplayPort output and OTG. These are proper flagship connectivity options. NFC availability is welcome, although its practical payment use in Nepal still depends on local banking support.

Battery

The phone packs a 7060 mAh silicon carbon battery. That is a very large capacity for a 6.31 inch device and should provide strong endurance for general use. It supports 120W wired charging and 50W wireless charging.

The large battery makes sense because the Robot Phone has more work to do than a conventional flagship. It must power a bright OLED display, a top level processor, multiple large camera sensors, AI processing, and a mechanical gimbal motor. Recording 4K video while tracking a moving subject will consume far more power than reading messages.

For an ordinary user, the battery should comfortably last a full day and may stretch longer with moderate use. A creator recording for hours should still carry a power bank. A 7060 mAh label does not make the laws of physics resign from their job.

The 120W charger should restore power quickly during a tea break, while 50W wireless charging adds convenience at a desk. Actual charging time, sustained speed, heat, and battery health will need to be judged through independent testing after retail units become widely available.

Features and Specs

The HONOR Robot Phone uses a glass front, an aluminum frame, and a titanium gimbal. It measures 190.5 by 72.9 by 9.6 mm with the camera extended. With the camera folded, its height is around 151.4 mm. The device weighs 248 grams and comes in Silver and Gray.

It supports two Nano SIM cards and 5G connectivity. Security is handled by an under display fingerprint reader. Other sensors include an accelerometer, compass, gyroscope, and proximity sensor.

Audio comes through stereo speakers. There is no 3.5 mm headphone port and no FM radio. Wireless audio support includes aptX HD, aptX Adaptive, aptX Lossless, LHDC 5, Auracast, and ASHA. There is also an infrared port, so the phone can potentially control compatible televisions and air conditioners. That is the sort of small feature people ignore during a launch and suddenly love when the remote disappears under the sofa.

The model number is APH AN00. Buyers considering a direct import should check supported mobile network bands with their Nepali carrier before paying. They should also ask who will repair the mechanical camera if something goes wrong. A normal camera glass replacement is one thing. A tiny titanium robot having a bad day is another.

The strongest features are clear. You get a genuinely different motorized camera, physical stabilization, automatic tracking, ARRI assisted video tools, flagship performance, an excellent display, huge storage, and a large battery.

The compromises are equally real. The phone is heavy, relatively thick, expensive, only IP54 rated, and more mechanically complex than an ordinary smartphone. The camera may save you from buying a separate gimbal, but careful owners may still want a protective case, accidental damage coverage, and a strong relationship with gravity.

Price and Availability in Nepal

HONOR announced the Robot Phone in China on August 12, 2026. Preorders opened on the same day, while official sales are scheduled to begin in China on August 18, 2026.

Final Thoughts

My early verdict is simple. HONOR deserves credit for taking a real hardware risk at a time when many flagship phones look like cousins wearing different camera circles. The Robot Phone appears exciting and useful, especially for solo creators. But its long term durability, international AI support, repair options, and actual camera performance must be tested before calling it the next big revolution.

If it launches officially in Nepal with reliable warranty and local service support, it could become one of the most interesting premium phones of 2026. Until then, enjoy the innovation, keep an eye on the official price, and do not let excitement turn you into an unpaid durability tester.
